Weezy F. Baby's great 2008

's
You can Love him or hate him but Lil Wayne came away with the #1 and #2 videos of the year per B.E.T's NOTARIZED countdown of their hottest 100 videos of 2008. He received the #1 spot for "Lollipop" and the #2 spot for "A Milli".There are a lot of salty people (fans and artists) out there about his appointment to the top two spots but they will have to get over it. Even more impressive he earned the top-selling album of the year falling just shy of 3 million units sold with 2.88 million. While this is nothing short of incredible, Jonathan Cohen of Billboard.com reports that this is the first year that the top selling album has sold less than 3 million units since Nielsen SoundScan began recording record sales in 1991. While he was undoubtedly touched by rampant bootlegging, he still managed to sell a million copies of his Carter III album in the first week. This is amidst a climate that sucked for the music industry as a whole and rap suffered big time. While Nelly, an artist that always did numbers, floundered on the charts and stalwarts like Ladies Love Cool James and Ludacris did dismal numbers, Wayne was laughing all the way to the bank. While I was a bit let down by the overall song selection of his album it was still solid. To those not happy with Wayne's meteoric rise to the top I say wake up and smell the Sanka. He has legions of fans that enjoy his music and they are extremely loyal which is not the case all the time in rap music...Ask Ja Rule. . With all of that being said Weezy had an incredible year and I don't see him losing momentum any time soon. Peep.

Weezy, in his words (to me), is "the best rapper ALIVE". His records sells and chart topping music this year has proved this.
No, the entire cd was not mad good but, not many artist have cds that you wanna listen to from beginning to end anyway. For the most part the tracks were straight and months later you still hear people bumpin' it... to me that's amazing cause a lot of times, after a few plays, people just throw their cds in a pile and forget about them.
Not only has he done his own thing solo but, he was on numerous tracks. From TPain (rap) to Kevin Rudolf (rock) he has done his thang. When Wayne is involved, he's in the spotlight!
2008 was Wayne's year. 09 is gonna be a challenge to match up to what he has already done but, can he do it???
Well for now, its Wayne's world!
