Maino:Letter to Pac

Here is Maino's Letter to Pac by request. Maino is a very underrated rapper in my opinion. Him and Uncle Murder should come together and be a duo.

Mick Boogie Presents: Before There Was Love

I'm really feeling this new wave of artists out. U-N-I has that fresh flavor that is steadily making waves into the mainstream. Thurzday and Y-O are coming from Cali and they come bearing gifts in the form of audio crack. Mick Boogie is on of the illest mixtape deejays out as his work always has a certain "flyness" to it and very high quality execution. Wouldn't you agree? I have posted one of their older videos for their song K.R.E.A.M (Kicks Rule Everything Around Me). It is a tribute to sneakers if you didnt guess already. If you want to know more about U-N-I click here . Peep.

Black Thought: Morgan Freeman on Black History Month

I agree with Morgan Freeman and his stance on Black History Month. Please watch this, it is very short. Let me know how you feel about this by leaving a comment. Peace.

The Kickdrums-Smash the System

This is another hotttt mixtape. The Kickdrums are one of the best production teams out and this effort proves that point. Smash The System has some of the games most respect artist as well as some up and coming artists that have skills. The Kickdrums have been flying under the radar for some time but I think they will explode on the national scene sometime this year. All of the production on this one is handled by them and it allows you to get a feel for the heat they are bringing. Oh yeah, you may be familiar with their work wit Ray cash. Cash is that guy and its a shame he is HEAVILY slept on. Anyway, cop this jawn right here. Peep.

Kanye West: Street Lights Video (Unofficial)

Here is an unofficial video for Kanye West's "Street Lights". In my opinion, this is one of the better songs from his latest offering, 808's and Heartbreaks. Shouts out to 2dopeboyz which is where I originally spotted the video.

K.West - SL from J Gavin on Vimeo.

Nick James Presents...Jay-Z The Color Line

Here is one of Nick James' previous offerings done in same way as the Nas tape above. The main difference is this time used an entire album. He remixed the entire black album. This one is on different than the others...Its hot.

Yo Gotti: The Pyrex King

It's ya boy Yo Gottiiiiii!!!!!!!!!! That dude Yo Gotti is back and he's on his ish. If you know Yo Gotti this mixtape will not stray away from his formula. Yo Gotti is one of the most slept on southern artists in my opinion. So here you have Yo Gotti-The Pyrex King. Peep.

Quan- Puzzles and Pictures

I'm really feeling this right here. Quan from VA is back with a banger. I know he stepped on some toes with this one. He keeps it real though and probably has a lot of rappers grillin' behind his back. He was on that song Nas had "Just a Moment". That was my favorite track on the Streets Disciple album. As a matter of fact that one is here too. Cheers!

Nick James Presents...The Nas Remixes

Oakland producer Nick James crafts a beautiful mixtape with his latest undertaking Nick James Presents...The Nas Remixes. When I tell you that this is some top notch production, I mean that with the utmost sincerity. The tracks that James chose to put his production to are some of the dopest in Nas' catalog. For example Ether, The World is Yours, and Life's a Bitch featuring AZ. Nick's production has a very rich quality to it as the music is more than the standard hip hop fare. In all actuality this is hip hop in its purest form. This is like black tar heroin for your hip hop collection. Your fix has arrived...Be easy...Peep..oh yeah, I have embedded the jawn so you can get a feel for the heat and a separate hassle-free download link. Peace!

**CRACK**Nipsey Hussle-Hussle in the House**CRACK***

Man this is my ish right here. Nipsey Hussle is an artist from South Central LA that is destined to make a splash on the national scene. I'm really feeling the sample they used on the beat. Tell me if you know where it came from. Why does it feel like Game needs to be on this song with him? This is that West Coast G music.

The Cool Kids-Pennies

This ish right here..this ish right here...CRACK. The Cool Kids are that deal. Go ahead and peep.

Year of The Roc

Year of the Roc is a compilation of the Roc's current artist. This is a great blend of songs that go from gutta joints to club bangers. With artist like Jay-Z, Freeway, Kanye West, and Freeway on deck, the R.O.C is poised to have a good year. I am really amped for that Jadakiss album. Freeway has been killing it recently too because his "Month of Madness" was incredible. Hova has been spittin flame lately too. The remix of "My President is Black" has been melting the airwaves while Kanye is busy with his Louis V projects amongst his music. Its THE R.O.C! Again all downloads are now hassle free. Remember to leave your comments . Peep.

DJ HITZ & Fabolous: The Fabolous Life

The Fabolous Life is a dope mixtape and must have for Fabolous fans. It has all of his most recent offerings from his features to his own songs. There is even a throwback or two on here. Even when Fab gets grimey on a hardcore track he still has that laidback swag. He also steals the show from other rappers on posse cuts. I bet some poeple are tight when he finishes his verse! Peep!

Kanye West is back on his shhh

He now wants to be addressed as Martin Louis the King Jr. "Swagger on a hundred thousand trillion"...

B.O.B-"Lonely People"

B.O.B has to be one of the best new artists out. His creativity is refreshing and his style is so trill. On top of that he isn't afraid to "do him". This video is super dope. Are you one of those "lonely people"? If you like this joint, leave a comment. Peep.

B.o.B---Lonely People

Kidz in the Hall x Tee Smif x BirdWalk Re-Versed

This is pretty cool. Naledge goes in and beats up on the beat for Birdwalk by Soulja Boy. Check it out. Peep.

"The Curious Case of Benjamin Joe Budden"

This new Joe Budden jawn is kinda like a best of cd. Most of the tracks are from the Mood Muzick series and Halfway House. It also includes his recent diss songs aimed at Saigon. Everybody knows Joe's stuff so no need for me to bore you with details about songs you already know. Anyway, there are a lot of flamers on here. I am also going to be posting all downloads through zshare now to make it easier for you all to cop. You can thank me later. Peace.

Rick Ross-Mafia Music

The self proclaimed "biggest boss" is back and he's bringing the heat. This is a real "tough guy/biggest boss/I'm grabbin' my balls" type of track. I have seen this song mentioned as a possible diss track or jab at 50 but I don't think so. You know how stuff gets misconstrued sometimes. However, If it does turn out to be a diss, remember where you heard it first! Peep.

Weezy and Game: Blood,Sweat, & Tears 3

Weezy and Game make a great duo and this one showcases their chemistry perfectly. I would not be surprised if these guys hook up for a label release sometime in the future. This tape is handled by The Empire/Tape Masters Inc who did an incredible job putting it together as usual. This whole mixtape is straight up heat. If you are a Game or Weezy fan it is well worth your time to download this one. It is choc full of exclusives too. You can pop this one in a ride out. Peep. My favorite track is #8 The Game ft Young Buck-Hate...that track is fire!!!

Curren$y Preview

Here is another preview from the homie Curren$y from his forthcoming lp "This Aint No Mixtape". I can not wait for this album. Curren$y is without a doubt one of the most talented artists out there. Towards the end homie goes in. Peep

Kanye West Louis Vuitton Don Sneakers

Here is a short clip of Kanye's new sneaker with Louis Vuitton that debuted in Paris. I think these are fresh but I don't know if I'd rock 'em. Maybe a little too attention grabbing. Maybe a nice Navy blue and I'd be down for sure. I bet these joints cost a grip though.

Mack Maine and Don Cannon:This is Just a Mixtape

I'm right back like I left something and with me I have for your listening pleasure Mack Maine mixtape co starring Don Cannon; This is Just a Mixtape. If you didn't know Mack Maine is on Lil' Wayne's Young Money Ent. I think this guy is talented and not just your average rapper. I can definitely see him making noise of his own. I must admit though, I was not impressed by his verses on Lil wayne's "Got Money" and "Ms. Officer". On this mixtape he is the headliner and it shows because he spits that flame. Of course Don Cannon is known for hot mixtapes and he delivers again. Go ahead and cop that.

DJ Blade- Pastor Troy: King of Kings

What it does cuz? While keeping it trill like I always do, I came across this new Pastor Troy mixtape. It is basically a greatest hits compilation chosen by DJ Blade. Some of my faves are on here like Vice Versa, Attitude Adjuster, and Murda Man. If you need something to roll to a game or the club and you need to get crunk look no further.

Lil Wayne Carter 4 Leak?

Imma be real and let you know that I can't vouch for this one.For some reason comments on this mixtape have been disabled. It also seems as though the deejay has chosen to add some other cats on here that are probably from his camp. What better way to get them noticed than to put them on a "The Carter 4" leak? I remember Weezy saying that the new Carter would not be The Carter 4 but a Carter 3.something. Basically it would not be The Carter 4 but an in-between type album with all new material. This seems to be a stitched together joint but it still has some nice tracks. Most hardcore Weezy fans may already have these joints. If not go ahead and cop.

OBAMA!

BARACK OBAMA! YES WE CAN!IF YOU HAVE EVER EVEN WHISPERED THAT THE MAN IS HOLDING YOU BACK...KILL THAT NOISE!!! EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE. THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE TIME IN HISTORY!! TO WALK ON WATER YOU MUST FIRST GET OFF THE BOAT.

Jay-Z & Young Jeezy Perform"My President Is Black" Remix Live!

I had to put this up for ya'll. Jeezy and Jigga perform the remix to "My President is Black" at Love nightclub in D.C. The energy in the crowd was insane!

Young Jeezy ft Nas "My President is Black" Official Video

Here is the official video. Shouts out to Onsmash

OJ Da Juiceman-32 Karat Juice

While we are in the trap for the moment, I'm putting up a drop on one of the newest players in the game, OJ Da Juiceman. Da Juiceman reminds me a lot of Gucci Mane and Shawty Lo in terms of content and that playful delivery. He hooks up with one of the most prolific deejays in the game, DJ 31 Degreez, for a 2 disc mixtape entitled 32 Karat Juice. This mixtape is full of fire and keeps you grounded in the trap the entire ride. If you like deep, hard beats that leave your rearview mirrors shakin', this is the cd for you. I have embedded both cd's for your listening pleasure. AYE!

Gucci Mane-Wilt Chamberlain 6

I bet you didn't see me posting this one up, huh? Gucci ain't the best rapper but sometimes it ain't about introspective lyrics and hot metaphors. Sometimes you need to hood it on out. So I present to you, via DJ Rell And Datpiff.com, Gucci Mane-Wilt Chamberlain 6(Da Hood Loves Me). Gucci is probably one of the trillest rappers in the game right now on the trap tip. Get your blunts and a bag of cheeba and get to it.

Joe Budden Disses Saigon!! He bodied him!

Budden turns the heat up.5 minutes of straight killer flow.

Saigon diss:Goes in on Joe Budden, his girl, and his son.

Man, Saigon went for Budden's throat with this one. Diss records are beginning to go completely beyond skills and lyrical shit and go straight to personal issues. I think 2Pac's "Hit 'Em Up" set the bar. That song was nothing but a scathing diss record that was set to humiliate B.I.G and Junior M.A.F.I.A. Rappers are in Danger! Peep it for ya self. Cold world.

Mick Boogie Presents: Mmmxbeats & Rnr Are Purple Monkey Sircus

It appears that people are really feeling a new creative freedom in rap music. Shows like 106 & Park are starting to reached beyond the usual when it comes to music. I saw the Retro Kidz video "New Era" on there and they jam some N.E.R.D joints from time to time too. Even on the radio, at least where I am, they seem to be expanding their horizons. This is a good thing to me. I listen to just as much mainstream rap as I do underground and mixtape rap. This new section of rap, which many have labeled hipster rap, seems to be poised to break through to the masses. I hate labels but I do think that they are sometimes needed.I came across this new joint this morning on my favorite mixtape site, Datpiff.com. It is called Mick Boogie Presents: Mmmxbeats & Rnr Are Purple Monkey Sircus. Mick Boogie is known for his artful styling and innovation in the mixtape game and this outing is no exception. I don't know anything about Purple Monkey Circus other than the fact that they are from Cleveland. I think you will find something on this tape that you can jam to. I'm feeling this newness in rap and I am so damn ready for a change. Back in the days we heard A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul side by side with Kool G Rap and Ice-T. Go ahead and check it out. It's about time.

Meek Mill-The Wire 3 DVD Freestyle AND Meek Mill "The Real Me" Documentary preview

What up? I'm back with some new Meek Mill. This is one of the dudes I told you guys that I was looking to hear some fire from in '09. Here is some new heat from The Wire 3 DVD. Meek goes in. Grand Hustle! This guy is hungry! Like they say in Philly, "early"!

Here we have the preview of the "The Real Me" Meek Mill documentary. Can't wait to peep this one. Philly is doing it big right now. Keep the heat up. Peep.

DJ Mike Nice-Jay-Z, Big Daddy Kane, Biggie-Brooklyn Bullsh*t

The mixtape game has reached a new level with a bevy of dopeness being released already in '09. This outing from DJ Mike Nice is no exception. His latest selection, Brooklyn Bullsh*t, is hot. It features unreleased and obscure tracks from 3 of the most heralded emcees from BK. This selection is far from a greatest hits cd as he finds music of B.I.G's when he was 12 years old to his demo tapes and the like. He also snatches up heat from Jay-Z's and Big Daddy Kane's vaults as well. So, if you want something totally different that is presented in a true hip hop fashion, go ahead and get to clickin'.

DJ Semi, DJ KG-The Notorious B.I.G Forever

This is the hardest Biggie tape out! Period point blank. These cats manage to put some of Biggie's best flows with some hot beats. This creation is one helluva experience. Cop that. If you call yourself a Biggie fan, you MUST cop.End of discussion.

DMX Speaks from an Arizona jail

I really wish the best for DMX. He has had a remarkable career that spanned many years. X has sold millions of records, appeared in movies, and a host of other endeavors. Unfortunately, he has also had his share of bad times. I'm sure we all know what was going on so there is no need to rehash that. In the video he talks about a range of issues. Just to hear X speak is good because he is sober and has a clear mind. X, come home soon and keep thinking positive.

Jadakiss: From Ashy to Classy to Raspy

Here is the new Jadakiss joint from Trap-A-Holics. Kiss goes in on this one as usual . There have been some dope mixtapes already in '09 and this one is no exception. Kiss and Weezy dumb out on the song Death Wish Go ahead and listennnnnn or download.

Papoose 21 Gun Salute

Aye yo, this mixtape is fire! If you like Papoose or any underground raw music this is a must. Papoose spits real heavy and he still has a chance to blow. He killed the "Touch It rmix" a couple years back. He was killin it in the streets wayyy before then though. Peep. Click here for the heat.

Gangland: Gangster City Chicago (full episode)

Grab whatever your vice is for relaxation, i.e. beer, cheeba, Grey Goose, a cup of joe etc. ,and watch the full episode on how hard Chicago is. It's real in the field. Peep.

Jim Jones-"Swagga Like Us"

Here is a "Swagga Like Us" mini-vid from Jim Jones. Jim is one of those rappers who is always swagged out. I wonder how his beef with Max B. and French Montana is going to play out. Only time will tell.

Fat Albert in the Hood Part 4: Beware of the Snitch

Fat Albert and the gang is at it again. This time a snitch is on the loose and he has chosen Fat Albert and the gang as his target.

Tuesday Tech:Palm Pre the iPhone killer?

For anyone that has Sprint service this phone should be a godsend. While it has not been released yet, the Palm Pre (pronounced pree), is poised to be the real dookie. Palm has resurrected themselves from the dead with this new device and Sprint has been chosen as the official launch partner. This also a really good look for Sprint who has been suffering for some time now. For those of you not familiar with the wireless jargon, that simply means that Sprint will be the only company to offer the phone when it releases. This phone is loaded to the gills. It has a 3.1 inch multi-touch screen, integrated Wi-Fi, EV-DO Rev. a(Sprint's high speed data),GPS, 8 gigs of storage, a 3 mega pixel camera with flash and most important, at least for me, a FULL QWERTY KEYBOARD! I have tried the virtual keyboard on the Blackberry Storm and the iPhone and I don't like either of them. The Pre slides out in portrait fashion so that the keyboard is hidden underneath when it is not in use. It also includes an accelerometer that allows it to change the screen orientation from portrait to landscape mode by turning the phone. This is only one of the uses of the accelerometer as I am sure many games will be developed on the new webOS operation system. The phone is finished in a nice glossy piano black that promises to be a finger print magnet. With the date of launch not yet released, Palm has gone on record to say that it will launch in the first half of 2009. I advise existing Sprint customers with an upgrade available to wait for the new heat. For those of us with swag this device will fit the bill and then some. Cop that. Oh yeah, no word on pricing yet but I estimate it to be in the $250-$300 range after applicable rebates. Peep.

B.O.B-"I'll be in the Sky"

This song is the $hI+. This is from B.O.B, one of the freshest talents to come in the game in a minute. You've probably heard him from T.I.'s Paper Trail album, on the song "On Top of the World". In actuality that was B.O.B's song but T.I. heard it and like it so much he wanted to make it his. Aint that a good look for a new artist? It is inevitable that there will be comparisons between him and Andre 3000. B.O.B is also from the A and his style is his style. His new album ,The Adventures of B.O.B, will be his freshman effort and if this single is any indication of the quality of his work we are in for a treat. Below is the song. I had the video up but the powers that be decided to remove it from YouTube and vimeo. I will be sure to add it once it becomes available again.**UPDATE: THE VIDEO IS HERE!!!!**PEEP!

Maino-2009 Predictions

Maino, from HiHater fame and some hard mixtapes, goes in with his predictions for '09. He used the same beat Skillz rapped over for the 2008 Wrap Up. The predictions is a nice new spin on it. I am still wanting Maino to do an album with Uncle Murder. That would be crazy. That's dumb out music!

Grafh-What Goes Around

Grafh is a heavily slept on rapper who truly has his own style. This video is very nice and it sticks to the topic which is missing these days. The director does a stunning job with this one. Peep.

Jadakiss-"Letter to B.I.G"

Here is Jadakiss' new joint "Letter to B.I.G". As usual Jada goes in and gets the job done. Easy. Peep.

Wiz Khalifa Freestyle

What's poppin people? Here is Wiz Khalifa with a new freestyle. He goes in on a throwback beat. It was used for B.I.G's verse on "All About the Benjamins" but it is originally the Jackson 5's "Great to be Here." Anyway this is hot. To learn more about Wiz Khalifa click here.

Southern Legend Series: Pastor Troy

When I first heard Pastor Troy's "No Mo Play in GA" I knew he was going to be a problem. This guy, completely unknown in the realm of national music, was attacking the all-mighty Master P. If you are old enough to remember the No Limit reign, you know that Troy had to have the balls of a giant to make that song. P and No Limit were the best thing since sliced bread, weak lyrics and all (Beats by the Pound was killer though). While I am still not exactly sure what caused Troy to go for the jugular, what ever it was must have been foul. The word at the time was that P did not sign Pastor Troy and Troy took offense to that. Another theory is simply that of P being the man at the time and like Rick Flair said, "In order to be the man you've got to beat the man". In any event, when the first few bars of "No Mo Play in GA" came on my neck was bobbin like crazy then the way he attacked the mic and P was over. He had soooo much emotion and unbridled rage you could feel it though the speaker. The chant "We Ready" is synonymous with club fights and pretty much any beat down in the south that is between two groups. I remember being at SC State's homecoming back in 1990 something and watching this guy getting thrashed by three dudes. The funny thing is the guy suffering the beating had two people with him who did not get out of the car! For an encore, the guys who beat him up began jumping on his car shouting "We ready!!, we ready!!, we ready!!" That was a classic moment forever engraved in my memory museum. In the video, watch how the people in the club get crunk to this song. This is my favorite crunk song of all time. Here's to Pastor Troy, a southern legend.

50 Cent disses Oprah and sends warning at Weezy

Man, I can't say I didn't see this coming at Wayne. 50 warns Weezy to keep quiet so he doesn't end up like a few other rappers he bodied. On the real, I don't think he can do that to Wayne. Hell, Wayne has fans that will probably take bullets for him. If he can survive the pictures of him kissing Baby he can survive anything. That's real rap. Anyway here is the audio for you to hear it for yourself.Peep.

11 year old producer VohnBeats

This kid is amazing. When I was 11 my extracurricular activities consisted of countless hours spent play Nintendo and trying to make small change raking leaves and shit. This 11-year old prodigy has some serious skills.Imagine when he hits 18. This beat is actually pretty tight. His future is brighter than a million xenon headlights. If he keeps his head on straight and his Timbs laced tight he will be "that dude". Mark my words. Take a few minutes and peep the future.

Huey feat Maino and Glasses Malone -24/7

Huey is back from the ashes of his last album which included the smash "Pop Lock and Drop It". His new single, 24/7, features Maino and Glasses Malone. This is a great songs for all grinders and hustler/riders and goons. Peep.

Notorious

I must admit, at first I was not too excited about seeing the Notorious movie. Now, for some reason, I can't wait to go see it. B.I.G was such a charismatic rapper and in all actuality he was the epitome of Brooklyn. He was an incredibly versatile lyricist(think Let's Ride feat. Bone Thugs). He was also one of the illest story tellers in rap. He spit major flame on "I Got a Story to Tell" and "Warning." He also had cool laid back joints like "Whats Beef" or his verse on "You Can't Stop the Reign". Then he had some of the best mixtape songs like the still bananas "Real Niggas do Real Things" or his verse he spit on the Funkmaster Flex 60 minutes of Funk Vol.2 Freestyle feat. the Lox. Incredible. Who could forget songs like "One More Chance" remix and "Big Poppa"? These songs make it possible for the self proclaimed, "black and ugly as ever" rapper to be considered a ladies man. I could go on and on and on about the heat and why he is my fave. Canibus held BIG down with one of the most selfless rhymes I have ever heard. On his scathing diss record to L.L. Cool J, "2nd Round K.O."he said, "the greatest rapper of all time died on March 9th." While some may not see this as such a big deal, rap music is very competitive and for him to call Biggie the G.O.A.T that was a graceful move. When I got the news of his death I was devastated. Through B.I.G's music I felt like I knew him which is a connection that is hard to achieve these days. I knew that rap music would never be the same again and that feeling has yet to be proven wrong. While there are still nice artist out there the game is not the same. I've heard that Gravy did an excellent job in his portrayal of B.I.G and I will get to see on January 16th. Here is the Juicy video.

T-Pain and Freeway-Chopped N Screwed Freemix

This is Freeway's version of the T-Pain single Chopped N Screwed. Of course Luda's verse is here too. Free's upcoming mixtape ,Free or Die ,should be dope. I like this joint right here as he adds his own flavor to it. He just compiled the Month of Madness mixtape and he is back with another joint. Free is in full grind mode! EARLY! Peep.

Fat Albert in the Hood Part 3-Pure Ignance

More "ignance" from the guys over at Whakpiktures. This is funny. Bill Cosby would be pissed if he saw this!

Oh am I late? Jay Electronica edition

I must admit when I first heard the name Jay Electronica, I wrote this guy off as some kind of weirdo. Man, was I wrong. This guy spits that $h!t! I'm not gonna act like I know a lot about him when I don't. Everything I know about him is contained in the video below. This one mixtape has made me a fan. From what I understand this tape is a lil' old but I don't care. In hip hop old is two weeks. On top of that, good music transcends time. Watch the vid for a bio. Then download the tape for free. Click to peep his song Eternal and Glass Everywhere Act 1 Encore

Lupe's new rock song?

For all Lupe fans, here is a song from Japanese Cartoon, his new band. He is supposedly the lead singer, under the name "Percival Fats", even though this has been denied. However, the band did go on to say that Lupe is their financier. The voice of the singer on this record, even though tinged with a British accent, is strikingly similar to Lupe's. We shall see what is to come of this from the Chicagoan. With all of that aside, I can't wait for his LupE.N.D album. "The Cool" was in my top five in '08. I even like this rock song a lil' bit. I love it when artist take it to another genre and actually the music turns out fresh.

This is the first time 50 has publicly denied burning down the home that his son and baby moms were residing in. The home was burned to the ground on 5/30/08. Katt Williams vs Steve Harvey AND T Pain

I knew Katt Williams was the coldest comedian in the game for a reason. This guy just doesn't give a @#!#. In these 2 videos, he calls T Pain a duck sicker and he dumbs out all the way on Steve Harvey. I'm at a lost for words. Does anyone know what caused the riff between Katt and Steve? If you want a quick laugh, hit the links. Peep.

Freeway: Month of Madness

Here is Freeway's Month of Madness video and mixtape. The mixtape includes all of the songs Free put out during his "Month of Madness" as well as a bonus track. For those that slept, the "Month of Madness" was December. During this time Free blessed us with a different track a everyday! Stat Quo:QuoCity

Here is a link to Stat Quo's new mixtape, QuoCity, which is more fire from the ATLien. I hope much success comes to Stat in '09. If he sticks to the script that he wrote for his mixtapes we will be in for some heat. Click the link to download QuoCity for free or you can simply listen to it. Peep.

Weezy F. Baby's great 2008

's
You can Love him or hate him but Lil Wayne came away with the #1 and #2 videos of the year per B.E.T's NOTARIZED countdown of their hottest 100 videos of 2008. He received the #1 spot for "Lollipop" and the #2 spot for "A Milli".There are a lot of salty people (fans and artists) out there about his appointment to the top two spots but they will have to get over it. Even more impressive he earned the top-selling album of the year falling just shy of 3 million units sold with 2.88 million. While this is nothing short of incredible, Jonathan Cohen of Billboard.com reports that this is the first year that the top selling album has sold less than 3 million units since Nielsen SoundScan began recording record sales in 1991. While he was undoubtedly touched by rampant bootlegging, he still managed to sell a million copies of his Carter III album in the first week. This is amidst a climate that sucked for the music industry as a whole and rap suffered big time. While Nelly, an artist that always did numbers, floundered on the charts and stalwarts like Ladies Love Cool James and Ludacris did dismal numbers, Wayne was laughing all the way to the bank. While I was a bit let down by the overall song selection of his album it was still solid. To those not happy with Wayne's meteoric rise to the top I say wake up and smell the Sanka. He has legions of fans that enjoy his music and they are extremely loyal which is not the case all the time in rap music...Ask Ja Rule. . With all of that being said Weezy had an incredible year and I don't see him losing momentum any time soon. Peep.
